At 10 a.m., the Court will hear argument in Ashcroft v. Iqbal (07-1015), involving a suit against former Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller over allegations of racial and religious discrimination against post-9/11 Muslim detainees. Solicitor General Gregory Garre will argue for the petitioner, and Alexander Reinert of Yonkers, N.Y., will argue for the respondent.
At 11 a.m., the Court will hear argument in AT&T Corp. v. Hulteen (07-543), involving the use of service credits from before enactment of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act in making current calculations for pensions and other benefits. Carter Phillips of Washington, D.C., and Lisa Blatt of the Justice Department will argue for the petitioner, and Kevin Russell ofBethesd, Md., (and this blog) will argue for the respondent.
