The transcript of District Judge Richard J. Leon’s remarks on Thursday, in announcing his decision in the habeas case Boumediene, et al., v. Bush (04-1166). is now available here. This includes comments that were not included in the written order he issued Thursday afternoon. This transcript covers only Judge Leon’s publis session. He also met with counsel in a closed-door session afterward.
Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey commented on the ruling, and on his desire for a new legislative approach to detainee cases, in this opinion piece, published Friday by The Wall Street Journal.
