Today at the Supreme Court: 3/21/07

At 10 AM eastern, the Court will hear one hour of oral argument in Roper v. Weaver (preview here). A transcript should be available sometime this afternoon. No opinions on the merits are expected to be released today.

Additionally, in detainee-related news, the U.S. Solicitor General is expected to file a brief reacting to the two appeals in the Boumediene and Al Odah cases (for more about these cases, see here). We will post the government’s brief as soon as it becomes available. According to the Court’s electronic docket, the Justices at their Conference on Friday will again consider the petitioners’ request to expedite consideration of the two petitions.
