Moussaoui will appeal

Lawyers for convicted terrorist conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui on Friday notified U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va., that he will appeal to the Fourth Circuit Court — challenging both the judge’s refusal to allow him to withdraw his guilty plea, and the life-without-parole sentence he now faces. Very likely, the case will eventually go on to the Supreme Court.

The formal notice of appeal can be found here. In District Court, the case is U.S. v. Moussaoui (docket 01-455).

The Washington Post on Friday morning published a lengthy story, based on an interview with the anonymous jury foreman, relating that there was a single juror who held out against a death sentence. Unanimity, of course, was required for a death sentence. The story can be found here.
