Justice Scalias casket enters Supreme Court

Moments ago, eight pallbearers carrying the flag-draped casket of the late Justice Antonin Scalia passed through the iconic bronze doors of the main entrance to the Supreme Court. Adding a touch of significance to the occasion, the doors feature eight bas-reliefs depicting important moments in the history of justice.

Justice Scalias body will now lie in repose in the Supreme Courts Great Hall, just outside the Courtroom, where the public may come to pay respects from 10:30 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The pallbearers are all Supreme Court police. Ten people processed as well behind the casket, which was carried between a long row of former clerksthrough the Courts front plaza and up the stairs. A crowd watched from across First Street.
