Arguments next week go on

The Supreme Court plans to go ahead with scheduled oral arguments on two days next week, even if much of the government remains closed down during the federal budget impasse. Counsel due to appear were notified by the Court Wednesday afternoon that the sessions Tuesday and Wednesday will occur as planned. The Court had said last week that it would have a further announcement this week about its plans, in case the shutdown continued.
The highest visibility argument among those set for next week will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, in the Michigan affirmative action case.
