Yesterday’s coverage focused on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s confirmation hearing for Principal Deputy Solicitor General Sri Srinivasan, who has been nominated to the D.C. Circuit and whom many observers predict will be President Obama’s next Supreme Court pick. Jeremy W. Peters of The New York Times writes that Srinivasan “breezed his way through an uneventful Senate confirmation hearing,” while Richard Wolf of USA Today notes that Srinivasan won praise from several Republican members of the Judiciary Committee, and Michael Doyle writes at his Suits and Sentences blog that the hearing became a “love fest.” Evan Perez of The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) and Frederic J. Frommer of The Associated Press both report that Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) is likely to vote for confirmation.
