This week in the Community, in honor of the holiday season, we’re discussing the Establishment Clause. We kick off by asking your thoughts about the Supreme Court’s annual Christmas party. For those unfamiliar with the custom, the Court traditionally has a fête in the Great Hall where the Chief Justice leads Court personnel and guests in spirited caroling. The Court’s conscious decision to dub the celebration a “Christmas party” as opposed to a more secular “holiday party” has occasionally raised eyebrows, and today we ask for your thoughts as we begin a week-long discussion of the relationship between church and state.
