The Chief Justice on final day

Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., welcomed a new U.S. Solicitor General, thanked the departing lawyer who has held that post, and thanked the Court’s staff as the Supreme Court rose on Monday for its summer recess. October Term 2010 does not officially end, however, until OT 2011 begins when the Court returns to public sessions on Monday, Oct. 3. The text of the Chief’s remarks is here.
The Justices will be formally back at work on Monday, Sept. 26, when they hold their first Conference for the next Term, selecting cases for review off of the summer lists.
