This week at the Court

On Monday the Court issued additional orders from its November 7 Conference, which Lyle covered here. No new cases were granted, nor did the Court call for the views of the Solicitor General. Shortly after the November 7 Conference, the Court issued orders granting two new cases, including King v. Burwell — the challenge to tax subsidies for consumers who purchase health insurance through a marketplace established by the federal government pursuant to the Affordable Care Act. Lyle reported on that grant on Friday afternoon. We are also hosting a “snap” symposium about the case and the Court’s decision to hear it. Those posts are available here.
On Monday the Court heard oral arguments in T-Mobile South v. City of Roswell and in M&G Polymers USA v. Tackett. The Court was closed on Tuesday in observance of the federal holiday. On Wednesday the Court heard oral arguments in Alabama Legislative Black Caucus v. Alabama and Comptroller v. Wynne. On Friday the Justices will meet for their November 14 Conference. Our list of “Petitions to watch” for that Conference is here.
