This week at the Court

There are no oral arguments scheduled for the rest of the Term, and we do not expect the Court to issue any non-capital orders this week.  On Thursday, May 12, the Justices are scheduled to hold a Conference; our list of “Petitions to watch” for that Conference is here. We expect the Court to issue its orders from that Conference on Monday, May 16; the Court is also likely to issue one or more opinions that day.

The parties in next Term’s merits cases are also beginning to file their briefs; the brief of Billy Joe Reynolds, the petitioner in Reynolds v. United States, is scheduled to be filed on Monday, May 9.
