Attorneys’ fee case goes on

The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the substitution of the estate of a Louisiana police chief for him in the pending case of Fox v. Vice (10-114), scheduled for oral argument at 11 a.m. next Tuesday. This was one of several orders the Court released following its Friday Conference. The Fox case involves the question of awarding attorneys’ fees for an entire litigation, when an award may have been justified for only a part of the case. Former Vinton, La., Police Chief Billy Ray Vice, who was awarded the fees, has died; the Court agreed to allow his widow, who is handling his estate, to be substituted in the role of executrix. Further orders on cases considered at the Conference will be released at 10 a.m. Monday.
