The week ahead

The Court returns from a two-week-long recess today and will issue orders this morning. Â Opinions are expected both Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Court will also hear oral arguments this week, according to the schedule below:
Monday, April 19:
- Christian Legal Society v. Martinez (08-1371) — funding for religious student organizations that require members to share their religious views
- City of Ontario v. Quon (08-1332) — right of privacy for public employee’s text messages by government-issued pagers
Tuesday, April 20:
- Dolan v. United States (09-367) — federal judges’ power to order restitution for crime victims
Wednesday, April 21:
- Krupski v. Costa Crociere (09-337) — right to file an amended complaint in a federal court case to correct the identity of a party
This week the petitioner’s merits brief is due on Friday in Los Angeles County v. Humphries (09-350). Â In addition, petitioners in all four of the cases to be argued next week must file their reply briefs, if they choose to file any, according to the following schedule of deadlines:
- Mon., April 19: Rent-A-Center v. Jackson (09-497), Hardt v. Reliance Standard Life Insurance Co. (09-448)
- Tues., April 20: Monsanto Company v. Geertson Seed Farms (09-475)
- Wed., April 21: Doe No. 1 v. Reed (09-559)
