BIO filed today in Green v. Chilton County Commission

The Stanford Supreme Court Litigation Clinic today filed this Brief in Opposition in the case of Green v. Chilton County Commission, 07-1124. The case concerns a challenge to two provisions of a 1988 consent decree governing the composition of the Chilton County (Alabama) Commission. The petition, filed on February 26, can be found here.
Pam Karlan and Jeff Fisher of Stanford Law School appear on the brief representing the Dillard Respondents, along with Tom Goldstein of Akin Gump, Kevin Russell and Amy Howe of Howe & Russell, Alabama attorneys Jim Blacksher and Ed Still, and NAACP Legal Defense Fund Lawyers John Payton, Jackie Berrien, Debo Adegbile, and Ryan Haygood. Clinic student Patrick Nemeroff also worked on the case.
Lawyers David Boyd and Dorman Walker of Balch & Bingham, and John Hollis Jackson, Jr., and John Hollis Jackson III of Jackson & Jackson represent the other respondents with whom the Clinic filed jointly, the Chilton County Commission and Chilton County Probate Judge Martin.
