Recent Filings at the Court
In the past week, Akin Gump, Howe & Russell, and the Stanford and Harvard Supreme Court Litigation Clinics collectively filed five merits- and three certiorari-stage briefs at the Court.
In addition to the appellee’s brief in Riley v. Kennedy (07-77) (see post here) and the petitioner’s brief in Greenlaw v. United States (07-330) (see post here), the Stanford Clinic filed the petitioner’s brief (available here) in Kennedy v. Louisiana (07-343) on Wednesday, led by Professor Jeff Fisher with assistance from Stanford students Patrick Nemeroff, Ruthie Zemel, and Andrew Dawson. On Friday, the Harvard Clinic filed a petition for certiorari in Baker v. Chisom (available here), led by Amy with assistance from Harvard students Michael Fawcett, Candice Chiu and Emily Ullman, and Harvard fellow Sydney Foster.
At Akin, Pattie filed the respondent’s brief (available here) in United States v. Clintwood Elkhorn Mining Company (07-308) on Wednesday, and Tom filed the petitioner’s brief (available here) in Sprint Communications v. APCC Services (07-552) on Thursday. Tom also filed certiorari-stage replies on Thursday in Beasley v. United States (07-548) (see here) and on Friday in CSX Transportation, Inc. v. United Transportation Union (07-872) (see here).
