This morning, the Court is expected to release orders from the Justices private conference last Friday. We will provide coverage as soon as the list is made available.
At 10 a.m, the Court is scheduled to hear oral argument in CSX Transportation v. Georgia Board of Equalization (06-1287), asking whether federal courts must accept the valuation method chosen by a state in determining a railroads true market value. Carter Phillips of Washington, D.C., and Douglas Hallward-Driemeier of the Solicitor Generals office will argue for the petitioner, and Warren Calvert of the Georgia Attorney General’s office will argue for the respondent.
At 11 a.m, the Court is scheduled to hear oral argument in Department of Revenue of Kentucky v. Davis (06-666), asking whether the dormant Commerce Clause prohibits states from exempting interest income from in-state bonds while taxing interest income from bonds issued by other states. C. Christopher Trower of Atlanta will argue for the petitioner, and G. Eric Brunstad, Jr., of Hartford, Conn., will argue for the respondent.
We will posts links to the argument transcripts as soon as they become available.
