The Court will be issuing one or more opinions this Thursday. It’s also scheduled to sit the next two Mondays (the 18th and 25th), and I think it’s fair to expect an additional opinion day each of those weeks, too. So, a fair estimate would be five more opinion days.
Assuming a single opinion in the race cases, and an opinion (rather than a dismissal) in Davenport, that would mean 18 more opinions from argued cases.
The Chief is likely writing in one or both of the race cases.
Justice Scalia was probably assigned to write the merits majority in Davenport.
Two cases left from the February sitting: Tom predicts that Justice Breyer is writing Rita, and the Chief Justice is writing Hein.
From March, the only safe bet is that Justice Scalia is not writing the majority in any of the six remaining cases.
Eight cases remain from April (including Wisconsin Right to Life). Other than the unlikelihood of any of them being written by Justice Breyer, authorship is anyone’s guess on these.
