Round-Up

For more on yesterday’s ruling in Lopez v. Gonzales, Linda Greenhouse of the New York Times discusses the decision here, and Steve Sady, the Chief Deputy Federal Public Defender in Portland, Oregon, discusses it here at the Ninth Circuit Blog.

For further coverage of the school cases argued Monday, see this op-ed in the USA Today by Jonathan Turley (via How Appealing) or this post at BoardBuzz.com, which is run by the National School Boards Association.

Yesterday afternoon, Justices Breyer and Scalia had a conversation moderated by Jan Crawford Greenburg about their respective views of the Constitution. The ACS has made a stream of that event available here; at Above the Law, David Lat, who attended the event, has a recap and photos here.

Jeff Rosen of GW Law School has a piece here in this week’s New Republic about the partial-birth abortion cases (subscription req’d, via Althouse).

Finally, we linked yesterday to the Oyez Project, which made available downloadable audio of yesterday’s arguments. Today, Oyez launched a new widget that features not only audio, but individual lines of the transcript synched to the voices of the speakers, along with pictures of those speaking. It’s quite helpful; the widget for the Seattle case can be found here, and the Jefferson County case can be found here.
