Recent Filing — Rahmani v. United States

We recently filed an amicus brief on behalf of Congressman Bob Filner (D-Calif.) and Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) in No. 06-241, Rahmani v. United States. At issue in Rahmani is a First Amendment challenge by a group of Iranian-Americans to a provision in the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 which criminalizes contributions to organizations designated by the Secretary of State as “terrorist organizations” without providing defendants with an opportunity to challenge that designation. Brian Love and Jennifer Liu of the Stanford Supreme Court Litigation Clinic worked extensively on the brief.

Altshuler Berzon, which represents the petitioners in Rahmani, has collected all of the Supreme Court filings here, including another amicus brief — on behalf of The Constitution Project — for which Bruce Fein serves as counsel of record.
