O’Connor working on new book

Retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor is writing a new book, this time on the early history of the Court. She mentioned her project briefly in a “fireside chat” at the Tenth Circuit Judicial Conference in Colorado Springs on Thursday night.

O’Connor told the audience that she will cover some facets of the early Court that are not commonly discussed in histories. Although she said she hoped to finish the book by the end of the year, she said the project may run on over into the spring, because of other commitments she is fulfilling. The retired jurist said she has been having trouble learning how to say “No” to requests for her participation in volunteer activities.

O’Connor has previusly written two books — “The Majesty of the Law,” reflections on her work as a Justice, and “Lazy B,” the story of her life growing up on an Arizona ranch.

She appeared Thursday on a program sponsored by the Tenth Circuit Historical Society.
