The Court issued opinions today in the following three argued cases:
No. 04-1327, Holmes v. South Carolina, unanimously vacated and remanded, in an opinion written by Justice Alito.
No. 04-1506, Arkansas Department of Human Services v. Ahlborn, unanimously affirmed in an opinion written by Justice Stevens.
No. 04-1544, Marshall v. Marshall, unanimously reversed and remanded, in an opinion by Justice Ginsburg. Justice Stevens filed an opinion concurring in part and concurring in the judgment, in which he “explain[s] why I do not believe there is any ‘probate exception’ that ousts a federal court of jurisdiction it otherwise possesses.”
