The new Principal Deputy Solicitor General

The new Principal Deputy Solicitor General — sometimes referred to as the “Political Deputy” — is Ian Gershengorn. He is a very experienced and respected lawyer, who most recently served as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Federal Programs Branch. Gershengorn succeeds Sri Srinivasan, who was recently confirmed as a judge on the D.C. Circuit.
